More website strategies

I know I've been doing a lot, but I'm not sure what I have to add.

Twitter is taking off and I have over 600 followers now and gaining about 65 a day, which is good. I'm getting clicks from my ads I post there.

I created a new special - $2000 worth of products at 97% off. There are 70 products in all, ebooks, software, videos and audio all included. There is information on traffic building, list building, SEO, PPC, Adsense, Blogs and Blogging, Article Writing, Advertising, Social Networking, Copywriting, Affiliate Marketing, Using PLR and more. Everything a website owner needs to get sales soaring.

Meanwhile, I have three jobs from regular customers, a request to write an article for a magazine and I'm going away for 4 days in a couple of days too.

Today I took the morning off and joined friends to see Julie/Julia, which is a truly delightful story.

New Website Updates

I've been very busy again.

I'm back to using safe list advertising, in particular, the free ads that can be posted, because they do get click throughs by targeted traffic. I'm signed up to a whole heap, but not using them for mailing very often as it's just too time consuming. I've found that there are three that outperform the others Ad Solution, List Joe and Blaster with Target Ad Blaster coming in a close fourth.

I've been madly writing my newest ecourse, Blogging For Profit, a full completely free, 12 day, step-by-step course on starting a free blog and making money from it. Each day's lesson has a task to complete and training to follow, plus 2 freebies included. I ended up putting in over $1300 of freebies into the course and last night I announced it.

I've set up a membership site too, which will be free for life for the first 250 people who join. I'm working on the content now before I announce it to the world. I've called it Website Profits Gold Membership. Contents include articles, reports, free ebooks, reports and software, free PLR, useful free resources on the internet and special recommendations.

As if all that isn't enough for me to be working on, I'm creating another special mega pack deal, creating lots of articles, and I've gained a couple of website development customers as well. So I'm busy, busy, busy.

My Adsense revenue is improving daily and I'm seeing a steadily increasing trickle of opt-in on my lists and payments occurring, so all the hard work is paying off.

Special 95% off sale

Labouring still on my site and getting plenty of traffic now. Making a few dollars.

Decided to add a super web master special. 60 books, software, videos and audios for 95% off retail price. I'm not going to keep it up there long, too much bandwidth needed for the downloads.

My new site blog

I got so sick of waiting for Ezine Articles, which today has approved 4 of the 5 waiting articles, and upgraded me to expert status. I can now submit another 25 articles to try for the next level (I wonder how long it will take them to approve those?) However, the wait is worth the frustration as the views, clicks and other publishers giving me publicity by using my articles is one of the best ways I am advertising.

I joined the Warrior Forum (http://www.warriorforum.com) and asked some questions about CMS (content management systems) for my website as I want to set up a membership site. What has resulted is that someone will install Joomla for me and I installed Wordpress so I can blog and use my own articles. The result is that I have put about 10 articles up there in the past few days, including a few product reviews. I found ping-o-matic recommended on Warrior Forum so I went to the site. It's great. A free tool. When you update a blog, you 'ping' it to the sites that are interested in blogs. One click and over 20 places 'know' about your update.

Today I re-evaluated my ad campaign on Google as well. There are huge numbers of views and the CTR (click through rate) is OK but not as good as I'd like. What is showing up is that my home page is crap to the visitors coming to my site. Most leave when they arrive, so an update is urgently required there, because they're not converting well to sales or even to subscribers, which means the cost of a signup through AdWords is very expensive! And I'm getting equal traffic by other (no cost) means.

I'm writing a course on how to start blogging and hope to have that out in the market soon. If I could think straight, it would help enormously.

On top of all this, one of my former website clients has come back to me and wants a total redesign of her website to reflect her new book and new direction. Thank heaven's I have insomnia and can't sleep!

But, just to keep my life challenging (?), I have a bad chest cold. Ugh.

My Marketing Strategy

Aside from the drama in my personal life (see previous post), my marketing efforts for site traffic appear to be improving quite rapidly. I am slowly gathering signups for my ecourse "Profit Generating Ideas For Your Website".

My biggest three efforts have been free mailing lists, article writing and setting up a Google Adwords campaign.

The most successful traffic drivers to my sites are two of the free mailing lists. As I'm not working, I figure I can trade time easier than I can trade money, so I'm spending time clicking ads and gathering credits. The amount of traffic to my site is worth it until I start making a bit more money to fund superior traffic options.

I've found with the PLR content I purchased and have downloaded, that article writing is a breeze. I can totally rewrite a 750 word article in 15-20 minutes and have been writing up to 8 a day. I submitted all ten (the initial hurdle) to EzineArticles and have been waiting almost a fortnight for them to get around to reviewing 6 of them.

Today I decided to take one out and re-edit it, but now I am getting an error on their page saying that there is a problem and the website can't submit it. Maybe its because I've used up all my bandwidth with my ISP this month and have been throttled back to 64K for a week (OUCH!) It's the first time I've ever done it.

They sent me an email telling me an article had a problem (this is 10 days ago) and to contact them. I did. They never replied. I worked out the issue myself and fixed the article.

I sent some articles to Article Base, but again, they are so slow to approve them.

The majority of my articles are going to GoArticles.com, but their response/read rate is terribly low compared to the four articles I have live at EzineArticles.com
See articles I've written at GoArticles.com

I've found some ezine publishers willing to accept my articles for consideration. Their lists are quite small 2500-5000 or so, but it's still a chance to get targeted traffic.

I spent many hours researching keywords on Google and Wordtracker to find a whole plethora of keywords that not many people are using, yet thousands are searching for them each month. It's too early to see what's happening there yet as I've only had it up for 24 hours.

In doing my keyword research, I found 4 niches, related to ebooks that I want to add to my site too.

I've also learned in the last 24 hours about pinging, so I'm going to be trying that out. I'll write an article or two on what I've learned.

Looking around, I realise I want to add a membership site to my website too, I found that I have a dozen content management systems available to me through open source on my webhost (justhost.com - which is really cheap and so far very reliable). I also found a free 'lite' version online because I just can't get my head around Joomla just yet)

It's been a busy, busy week.

My sad week

It's been an interesting/stressful week or so.

Last weekend I was in Sydney, shopping. I didn't think much about my online efforts as I was too busy soaking up the city atmosphere, enjoying good food, taking photographs and relaxing.

I got home to discover my cat missing. I couldn't find her. There was a heavy thunderstorm and I spent most of the night calling her. I found her in the garden, wet, cold and very near death. I raced her inside, grabbed a towel and speedily found the paralysis tick. A mad rush to the nearby vet who said there was a chance, but sadly, 5 hours later, she gave up her fight. We buried her in the garden, the place she loved, but ultimately, the most deadly too.

My site is Live!

I've been working very hard, despite the physical problems I've had again this week. I was in hospital overnight on Wednesday and that wiped me out for a few days.

But I've done it. My first site is now live. It looks like nothing if you visit the homepage - http://www.rebeccasresource.com, but that isn't where the work lies. It's under the surface, in the special one time offers I have behind the opt in list page. It took me time and quite a bit of money to be able to set up such good offers, not to mention providing extra free gifts on my splash page, just for signing up for a free e-course.

My aim is to provide a really content rich site in time, that will become an expert website marketing site. Maybe in time I'll put in an advertising directory too, but for now, it's aimed only at small business web marketing. I realise already that my site will be much richer with a membership site attached to it, so in the next week or two I will add a free and paid membership option, though first I need to research the best way to manage it. I have no trouble writing a database, or even the code to secure the pages, but I know it's hard work and very time consuming, when what I need is money now, LOL.

Last night I sat down and wrote two articles and today wrote two more, which I've sumbmitted - 'Building and Managing an Opt In List', '7 Ways to Drive Laser Targeted Traffic to Your Website', '3 Tips To Creating A Promotions Strategy For Your Website' and 'Why Your Customers Are Ignoring Your Marketing Efforts'. The catch is that I submit mostly to ezinearticles.com who take ages to approve them.

I joined a heap of reciprocal links sites, but I'm already finding they're a disaster. 3 signups out of 8000 emails, and a couple of hundred into my inbox in return, is not a good conversion rate.

I've spent much of the day researching ideas for getting traffic to my site (preferably on the cheap at this stage), but I am quickly discovering that I must pay for quality leads. My next step is to find ezines that are in my field and pay for advertising to test how it goes.

Sorting out all the details

A week flies by so quickly. I feel like I'm at my computer 24/7, yet this isn't quite true. I do find time to put my head on a pillow. I don't say sleep because of the insomnia.

Suddenly an entire new world has opened up right in front of me. A secret world of Internet riches, triggered by one simple word - Information.

An idea springs into life and then takes on a life of its own as I develop it into something real, something tangible, something mind-blowing (I hope). An irresistible offer, or two or three on a subject I know and understand, marketing websites and link marketing for websites.

But like all things that take on a life of their own, they keep on growing and growing. Problems arise that need to be overcome, an auto-responder being one before I found that GetResponse.com has a free one if you hunt for it. Or that my mail-server isn't recognised as valid by them? Too much information is a major problem. Which means, how do I do what I need to do and find the information I need at this moment without becoming distracted, redirected and caught up in overload? I write down what I'm doing on a good ole' piece of paper in front of me.

I take pills that affect my memory and I can completely forget something in ten seconds, so the notes on paper are totally invaluable. Paper and pen in a high tech world work best. If I write things into Textpad (my favourite text editor) and save the file I can immediately forget where I put it and what it was called.

I almost have my website ready, just a few more things to do. Like providing download links for products and putting in the auto-responder code. And rewriting my front page after I listened to an interview by Brett McFall, the man who started this whole idea with his free seminar and his book ">How to Make Money While You Sleep: How to Start, Promote and Profit From an Online Business.

Now as I am just hours (10 maybe) away from getting it all going live, I have to go to hospital (you do not want to know the hideous procedure I have agreed to have done, LOL) for a few days and they tell me I'll feel like complete crap for a week or two afterwards. Hopefully they are wrong and my self hypnosis will work!

Exciting Marketing Ideas and Products

I haven't posted for a few days because I've been busy, both in the online and offline world. Offline, I'm helping to lay a floating laminated wood floor in my lounge, dining room and kitchen, which are sort of open plan.

Renovations are not new to me, laying click floor is. It is NOT as simple as the instructions would have you believe (of course). It works much better if two people work together (together is a very important word in this sentence, LOL). There is a curved staircase to work around, plus lots of nice niches to have to fill. It will not take just a few hours, like the videos all suggest.

Offline also, I was in my local newsagency the other day, browsing jewellery making magazines as I do (jewellery making, wire working and wire sculpting is my hobby and I love doing it). I picked up a magazine to check the content and DING! the lightbulb went off in my head. There was an article about a guy who makes glass beads. So? It was written by a freelance editor. Not only is he a candidate for what I want to do (his contact details are at the end of the 4 page article). I realised that an interview transcript can also be created into an article for magazine publications - more publicity for everyone and a much bigger audience, some of whom would never think of looking online for what they want.

Online, I was reading through the emails from the marketing guys I've subscribed to, and one offered a free book which greatly interested me. Well, I went to get it.

For the first time I really "SAW" how the squeeze page works - I mean REALLY works. I had to put in my name and email for the free ebook, which I did. I was taken to the most incredible offer I have yet seen on the Internet regarding marketing and PLR (Private Labelling Rights) and MRR (Master Reseller Rights). Hundereds and hundreds of articles and ebooks for $97 - AUD$119. I have no money (almost literally now) so I had to consider carefully. I went away for a few hours, came back and pulled out my credit card. So from the free ebook, the guy made $97 from me. It took me literally hours to download everything, stuff on every subject imaginable, not just marketing, most of it available to be branded and even resold!

Part of the deal was other products, same deal. Free bonus, sign up, get taken to the upsell. Don't buy the $97 offer and up comes a $47 offer with less features. If you still say no, then up comes the final offer, a basic package for $17. I can really see how this works now, because I was tempted. But after what I had just bought, I have enough material to cover so many niches for such a long time, that it really isn't necessary.

The next thing I discovered, was about viral tweeting, but that will be for another post - that is another mind blowing idea.

Article Submitter Review

While article submission isn't anything shockingly new to the world of SEO, many people STILL don't do it... and for good reason. It takes so incredibly long to do manually.

I'll admit, I had tried article submission at one point, but after I finally found a few article dircetories to submit my articles to, and then after manually copying and pasting my information into the required textboxes on each submission site, I quickly realized that my time could be better spent doing something else.

Then I came across a free program created by Brad Callen and Bryxen Software, Inc. that allows you to automatically submit your articles to hundreds of article directories with a few mouse clicks. Basically all I had to do was input my article criteria into the software, ONCE! Then, the program would automatically fill in all of the required data at each of the submission websites.

The only part I didn't understand was why the program is free... but hey, if they want to give it away.... The software currently contains around 700 article directories, where you can submit your articles without cost. It is the most straightforward program that I've come across, in that all you need to do is:

1. Input your article details (i.e. title, article body, bio, etc.) into the software 2. Click on the directory you want to submit to

And then the program will automatically fill in your article details. Then, you simply click the submit button and your article is instantly submitted to the directory. Then, you can move to the next directory, go through the list, and by the time you're finished you'll have roughly 700 one way links pointing to your website.

I can't think of an easier way to get links. Of course, if you're going to get links this quickly, it's important to submit different variations of your articles, to make things look more natural to the searchengines.

You can do this very easily via Article Submitter when you create your project in the beginning.

The software is constantly being updated and their is an incredible community of users established that all work together to make the software better and better, so you know you're getting great value for the money.

How complicated can it be?

Just how complicated can it be to make a simple e-book into a PDF from a Word document?

Well, the answer is incredibly complicated if you create a 'masterpiece' (my own interpretation, LOL)! I got all my nineteen articles. I created my text styles and then, in a stroke of creative inspiration, I decided to put different works of art as the watermark background to each and every page. So for the piece on painting wildlife, I put an image of an owl. For the articles on choosing and caring for artists brushes, I used images of - yep, you guessed it - artists brushes, and for some of the more philosophical articles, I used works of art from famous artists such as Degas and Renoir that I found in the public domain.

Where I couldn't find what I wanted, I improvised. One article is about painting with acrylics. As I couldn't find a public domain photograph of a selection of acrylic paint tubes, I decided the next best thing was a painting done in acrylic. Not finding any of these in the public domain either, I scanned part of a piece of one of my own works.

It took all day to complete the aesthetic work on this e-book. Then I saved it to PDF and......

disaster!

The images ended up in front of the text, not behind. So I downloaded a variety of PDF creators. The results ranged from the same to worse! One decided the images weren't even watermarks, so they all ended up in their original bright colour. And of course, the text remained behind.

What else to try? Well, what about Publisher? It loaded the Word document, but all the images are sitting outside of the pages, all in glorious full colour and in varying sizes. Hmm. Maybe, with another day's work. (Insert loud groan here).

Next brilliant idea. Try Open Office on a friends computer. Well, it opened the Word document. So far, so good, but some of the images are so pale they are invisible (or they are missing). And a little problem. The text is all frozen and can't be selected or changed. However, the cursor can be positioned and the keyboard shortcuts work, so all I have to do is 'change' all the fonts to what they already are then it works. But the big test, what happens when you try to make it a PDF? IT WORKS!

All I have to do now is download Open Office, unfreeze all the text and reposition all the background images, save the document as a PDF and upload it to my website.

It had better get some downloads after all this effort!

Sent my first articles!

Today I took the morning 'off'. If you can do that when you technically don't have a 'real' job.

I went to see Harry Potter 6. It's a good movie. Lots of attention to detail. Good dialogue. In fact, there is more dialogue than magic. Having said all that, there is no way I would ever let a kid see it!

This afternoon I finished joining a basic (free) article submission service and sent out my first five articles. Then I joined another half a dozen article submission sites and 'respun' the article each time for each site. So I hope to see them up some time soon.

Automatically Submit Articles to Article Submission Sites

Dominic Tay's ArticleSubmitAuto is an incredibly easy-to-use online article submitter any internet marketers can use to promote their articles.

And what makes it stand out from other article submitters is that:

1. ArticleSubmitAuto submits your articles only to high ranking and high traffic article sites like
EzineArticles, GoArticles, ArticleAlley, ArticleCity, SearchWarp, Ideamarketers, and many more...

Imagine the amount of traffic all these article sites have. Wait till you check out the list of such sites ArticleSubmitAuto supports. You'll be amazed!

In fact, the traffic you get by submitting to these sites are probably more than what those hundreds of junk unknown article sites have combined together.

2. ArticleSubmitAuto automatically create unique copies of the same article and submits a different copy to different article sites.

It is said that submitting unique articles to different article sites increases the number of
backlinks to your site. (Read more about Google's Duplicate Content Penalty by googling it.)

And that's not all!

Unlike many other article submitters that require users to click the 'Submit' Button for each article submission site, ArticleSubmitAuto only requires a single click of a button to run on autopilot!

Forget about those semi-automatic article submission software which requires you to press the submit button for each article site.

Being a marketer himself, Dominic understands that our time could be better spent at writing another article instead of just clicking the silly 'Submit' Button for each article site.

That's why ArticleSubmitAuto is called the 100% Automatic Online Article Submitter - You click a single 'Submit' button and your articles are submitted to those high ranking article sites
immediately - without any additional effort on your part (like how it has worked for me)!

Now, check this out...

ArticleSubmitAuto not only submits your articles, it also checks and formats your articles to make it look more professional. It removes 99% of the common punctuation and formatting errors most article marketers make.

You never have to worry about article sites rejecting your articles just because of some stupid formatting mistakes.

Right now as I'm writing this, Dominic is offering it as a free service to only a limited number of
internet marketers.

I honestly don't know how many seats have already been taken up but I suggest you to get in and grab it now before its too late!

Quickly visit Dominic's Article Submitter Tool!

Today's activity

I watched a video by Brett McFall this morning (on his blog on his site) that describes just exactly how to make money using a computer and the Internet, but with no website, no product of your own and no advertising.

Then I went and tried out his suggestions. Basically, check out social networking sites, find niche market sites, find products in ClickBank and match the two together. Of course, it's a little slower, joining the groups and getting to interact so you can then post suggestions, but still another way to create a revenue stream. And that's what I'm trying to do, create revenue streams - lots of them!

Making my first million? Not quite, but I have made a sale or two!

I took a few days off all this as my head was spinning. Kind of in a literal sense, because my Meniere's syndrome was attempting to rear itself into my world again and make the floor move. (For those of you who don't know, it's dizziness and nausea).

All the links are on my site and I submitted the site to a few more search engine/directory type places. My hits are going up well and the tracking on my pages tells me they are crawling my site as well as attracting real live visitors.

And I made a sale! Not millions, but a sale! And a couple of book sales from the affiliate site that I set up a couple of years ago. Enough to live on? Nowhere near it. Enough to go out to dinner maybe. Still, to me, it proves I am on the right track here.

My next attempt was to find articles, to create a few free reports or ebooks on each topic - painting, drawing, photography and general arts. I looked at a lot of articles from ezinearticles.com but finding the author to get permission to reprint is challenging. Much easier is articlebase.com. I was doing searches on articles about art (try saying that a few times quickly) and found several and contacted the authors. I now have half a dozen articles on painting and one on photography.

Then I remembered I've written a few articles myself a few years ago for the ezine I used to publish, so I've dug those out too and will submit them to places accepting articles, as well as putting them into the ebook.

As a second bonus for subscribing, there is also the ebook, Australian Yarns, which is available for sale on my website.

I've also been doing keyword analysis using my site statistics, and google's keyword search, so I can start an adwords campaign to lift my hits.

Starting out

Last Saturday (the 11th July) I dragged myself out of bed and drove the hour down to the Gold Coast to see Brett McFall (brettmcfall.com) who was doing a day seminar called "Making Money While You Sleep." As I have zero income at the moment and limited ways to get more I thought, I can't miss this and a few days before borrowed his book by the same name from the library. ">How to Make Money While You Sleep: How to Start, Promote and Profit From an Online Business.

I got so excited reading the book, that I read it cover to cover in 2 days and had already set up a plan to follow. I took those ideas to the seminar with me. The whole concept is simple. In 7 steps, create an information product people want and will pay for (how to is in the book) and promote and sell it. At the same time, build a big database of emails, to promote your new products to. Once it is done, it runs almost on automatic pilot. The most exciting thing? It can be done over and over again!

I learned so much from the course - the seven steps to starting an online business and Brett was a great teacher, relaxed, lots of audience participation, tons of practical, how to do every step information.

SUNDAY
So I took my product ideas home (now I have 7 ideas) and the next day I checked out the first one using his plan. I checked Google's keyword tracker for researching my idea and found that the search terms for my product fitted his criteria. Then I began to research people I could interview to create my product and the names were coming up everywhere.

MONDAY
My soon to be ex (stbx) took me out for a coffee and was telling me he had a huge database of names through his work and another idea began to form, so I raced home and began to research that! Well, another product is in the planning stages as the keyword searches were again perfect. An hour on Google led to a dozen new ideas for interviewees. And another discussion with stbx about how to promote his company and get to their database.

TUESDAY to FRIDAY
I realised I have a website, Click Art Gallery, with reasonable traffic just sitting there, selling a few books and a few paintings each month that could be doing so much more, with less effort! So I spent a couple of days researching stuff that other people have already created that would be targeted to my artistic audience. I signed up with Clickbank and went ahead collecting links. I decided that html code was not the way to do this and manage it, so I set up a database so I can manage it with ease. Well, so far it's taken about 14 hours, but I have over 30 products for artists on my resources page and it will only take a few minutes to add, delete or edit any part of my resource list.

Well, this is off tangent from my original aim of creating an information product to sell, but my main aim is to make myself some money, and ClickBank marketers offer some brilliant payouts (up to 75% of sales!).
