Labouring still on my site and getting plenty of traffic now. Making a few dollars.
Decided to add a super web master special. 60 books, software, videos and audios for 95% off retail price. I'm not going to keep it up there long, too much bandwidth needed for the downloads.

My new site blog
I got so sick of waiting for Ezine Articles, which today has approved 4 of the 5 waiting articles, and upgraded me to expert status. I can now submit another 25 articles to try for the next level (I wonder how long it will take them to approve those?) However, the wait is worth the frustration as the views, clicks and other publishers giving me publicity by using my articles is one of the best ways I am advertising.
I joined the Warrior Forum (http://www.warriorforum.com) and asked some questions about CMS (content management systems) for my website as I want to set up a membership site. What has resulted is that someone will install Joomla for me and I installed Wordpress so I can blog and use my own articles. The result is that I have put about 10 articles up there in the past few days, including a few product reviews. I found ping-o-matic recommended on Warrior Forum so I went to the site. It's great. A free tool. When you update a blog, you 'ping' it to the sites that are interested in blogs. One click and over 20 places 'know' about your update.
Today I re-evaluated my ad campaign on Google as well. There are huge numbers of views and the CTR (click through rate) is OK but not as good as I'd like. What is showing up is that my home page is crap to the visitors coming to my site. Most leave when they arrive, so an update is urgently required there, because they're not converting well to sales or even to subscribers, which means the cost of a signup through AdWords is very expensive! And I'm getting equal traffic by other (no cost) means.
I'm writing a course on how to start blogging and hope to have that out in the market soon. If I could think straight, it would help enormously.
On top of all this, one of my former website clients has come back to me and wants a total redesign of her website to reflect her new book and new direction. Thank heaven's I have insomnia and can't sleep!
But, just to keep my life challenging (?), I have a bad chest cold. Ugh.

My Marketing Strategy
Aside from the drama in my personal life (see previous post), my marketing efforts for site traffic appear to be improving quite rapidly. I am slowly gathering signups for my ecourse "Profit Generating Ideas For Your Website".
My biggest three efforts have been free mailing lists, article writing and setting up a Google Adwords campaign.
The most successful traffic drivers to my sites are two of the free mailing lists. As I'm not working, I figure I can trade time easier than I can trade money, so I'm spending time clicking ads and gathering credits. The amount of traffic to my site is worth it until I start making a bit more money to fund superior traffic options.
I've found with the PLR content I purchased and have downloaded, that article writing is a breeze. I can totally rewrite a 750 word article in 15-20 minutes and have been writing up to 8 a day. I submitted all ten (the initial hurdle) to EzineArticles and have been waiting almost a fortnight for them to get around to reviewing 6 of them.
Today I decided to take one out and re-edit it, but now I am getting an error on their page saying that there is a problem and the website can't submit it. Maybe its because I've used up all my bandwidth with my ISP this month and have been throttled back to 64K for a week (OUCH!) It's the first time I've ever done it.
They sent me an email telling me an article had a problem (this is 10 days ago) and to contact them. I did. They never replied. I worked out the issue myself and fixed the article.
I sent some articles to Article Base, but again, they are so slow to approve them.
The majority of my articles are going to GoArticles.com, but their response/read rate is terribly low compared to the four articles I have live at EzineArticles.com
See articles I've written at GoArticles.com
I've found some ezine publishers willing to accept my articles for consideration. Their lists are quite small 2500-5000 or so, but it's still a chance to get targeted traffic.
I spent many hours researching keywords on Google and Wordtracker to find a whole plethora of keywords that not many people are using, yet thousands are searching for them each month. It's too early to see what's happening there yet as I've only had it up for 24 hours.
In doing my keyword research, I found 4 niches, related to ebooks that I want to add to my site too.
I've also learned in the last 24 hours about pinging, so I'm going to be trying that out. I'll write an article or two on what I've learned.
Looking around, I realise I want to add a membership site to my website too, I found that I have a dozen content management systems available to me through open source on my webhost (justhost.com - which is really cheap and so far very reliable). I also found a free 'lite' version online because I just can't get my head around Joomla just yet)
It's been a busy, busy week.

My sad week
It's been an interesting/stressful week or so.
Last weekend I was in Sydney, shopping. I didn't think much about my online efforts as I was too busy soaking up the city atmosphere, enjoying good food, taking photographs and relaxing.
I got home to discover my cat missing. I couldn't find her. There was a heavy thunderstorm and I spent most of the night calling her. I found her in the garden, wet, cold and very near death. I raced her inside, grabbed a towel and speedily found the paralysis tick. A mad rush to the nearby vet who said there was a chance, but sadly, 5 hours later, she gave up her fight. We buried her in the garden, the place she loved, but ultimately, the most deadly too.

My site is Live!
I've been working very hard, despite the physical problems I've had again this week. I was in hospital overnight on Wednesday and that wiped me out for a few days.
But I've done it. My first site is now live. It looks like nothing if you visit the homepage - http://www.rebeccasresource.com, but that isn't where the work lies. It's under the surface, in the special one time offers I have behind the opt in list page. It took me time and quite a bit of money to be able to set up such good offers, not to mention providing extra free gifts on my splash page, just for signing up for a free e-course.
My aim is to provide a really content rich site in time, that will become an expert website marketing site. Maybe in time I'll put in an advertising directory too, but for now, it's aimed only at small business web marketing. I realise already that my site will be much richer with a membership site attached to it, so in the next week or two I will add a free and paid membership option, though first I need to research the best way to manage it. I have no trouble writing a database, or even the code to secure the pages, but I know it's hard work and very time consuming, when what I need is money now, LOL.
Last night I sat down and wrote two articles and today wrote two more, which I've sumbmitted - 'Building and Managing an Opt In List', '7 Ways to Drive Laser Targeted Traffic to Your Website', '3 Tips To Creating A Promotions Strategy For Your Website' and 'Why Your Customers Are Ignoring Your Marketing Efforts'. The catch is that I submit mostly to ezinearticles.com who take ages to approve them.
I joined a heap of reciprocal links sites, but I'm already finding they're a disaster. 3 signups out of 8000 emails, and a couple of hundred into my inbox in return, is not a good conversion rate.
I've spent much of the day researching ideas for getting traffic to my site (preferably on the cheap at this stage), but I am quickly discovering that I must pay for quality leads. My next step is to find ezines that are in my field and pay for advertising to test how it goes.
